Limitations of Ported Editions of RAM-CMS

This document describes the limitations of each ported edition of RAM-CMS.

ASP Edition

• Last updated time doesn't work, "unknown" is always returned for [[updated]]
• HTTP compression doesn't work yet (setting compress=true in config.asp has no effect - use the web server for compression instead)

This edition is fully supported.

Perl Edition

• HTTP compression doesn't work yet (setting $compress=1 in config.pl has no effect - use the web server for compression instead)

This edition is fully supported.

mod_perl Edition

• HTTP compression doesn't work yet (setting $compress=1 in config.pl has no effect - use the web server for compression instead)
• mod_perl 2.x only marginally works (mod_perl 1.x works fine). Don't expect this odd issue to be fixed anytime soon.

This edition has limited and sporadic support due to the strange way mod_perl works, and due to my lack of skill.

PHP Edition

The PHP Edition is the original edition, and is technically not a port, thus this edition will never have limitations, since this is where new development occurs first.

This edition supports PHP 4.2.0 and higher, PHP 5, and likely the future PHP 6. We suggest you use at least PHP 4.3.0 for best results. PHP 4.1.x may work, but this is not supported).

This edition is fully supported.

PHP-OLD Edition

• register_globals must be on in php.ini or php3.ini

The PHP-OLD edition supports the latest version of PHP 3 (although PHP >= 3.0.12 should work) and PHP 4 before 4.2.0.

This edition is fully supported.
